What’s HSK

Contents

HSK test is an efficient tool to evaluate your Chinese proficiency after learning Chinese Mandarin for a while. HSK is the abbreviation of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi ( Chinese: 汉语水平考试; pinyin: Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì) that interpreted as the Chinese proficiency Test. It’s used in China as the standardized examination of Standard Chinese (Chinese Mandarin) language proficiency in daily life, studying, and working occasions for non-native speakers such as international students and overseas Chinese. This language test is organized and managed by the Hanban, an agency of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

Test Levels

The examination is graded and ranked into six levels based on its duration, testing goals, and requirements.

A qualified test taker should be able to understand and practice straightforward Chinese words and sentences. The test taker can have basic communication and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies.

Small Group Chinese Class

Since last semester, we started studying Chinese at Keats. It was the best choice we can ever make. It is a really good school. The classes are a lot of fun, you learn a lot, but very interactive, so you talk a lot which means it is not just books and writing. Kunming is a really pleasant city to live in, especially if you compare it to other cities in the east. If you like to travel, if you like to study Chinese in a fun way, Keats has the best Chinese language program for you.

Intensive One on One Chinese Classes

I have been to Keats School to learn Chinese for 4 times now. The reason for coming back to this school is pretty much that the teachers I did work with were very good Chinese teachers. I make it a 5-year plan or even a 10-year plan to come back to this school.  All the teachers have methods of looking at what your skills are. They are aware of at what level you are. I think it is worth for everyone.

Intensive One on One Chinese Classes

My name is Sarah Fish. I am 81. I knew very little Chinese when I arrived. How was I going to survive 2 weeks of intensive Chinese course? I have to laugh when I think of that now. What a positive experience this has been! I really wish we could be here a little longer. The teachers are extremely encouraging, evaluating first how much someone knows, and then starting from there.

My school is amazing. I recommend Keats School because it is a more convenient way to learn Chinese in Kunming.

Intensive One on One Chinese Classes

This is my second time coming. Last year, I also came for about 12 weeks. This time I came for 13 weeks of a summer program in China. The reason why I particularly want to come to this school was because of the one-on-one classes. I was able to increase my level and learn Chinese more quickly than in group classes. If I have a chance again to come next year, I certainly will.

Small Group Chinese Class

The visa application was really straightforward, because Keats School helps us a lot with that. Keats has a big emphasis on conversational practice, so we learn a lot of vocabulary and daily life plans which is very convenient for us to go around town and speak with Chinese people which is the whole point of learning Chinese in China.

Small Group Chinese Class

The place is very cool. I am with a great group of people in my class, so coming to classes is very enjoyable. It is fun, we have a lot of discussions, games, activities. Our teachers are also very good, very supportive. Learning Chinese is intimidating at the start because you have so many questions. But I would advise coming to Keats because the atmosphere for learning is great. It is very relaxing. I would recommend the school.

Intensive One on One Chinese Classes

One thing I really liked was that I was able to work with my teacher to make an individual plan of study. Another really nice thing is that you live at the school, you feel completely safe.  You always have a group of people who are willing to do things with you on the weekends or in the evenings. They are serving you all the 3 meals a day, the food was excellent.
