Ein legendärer Philosoph Lǎo Zǐ (ca. 580-470 v. Chr.)
Laozi hieß mit Nachnamen Li und mit Vornamen Er. Laozi ist ein Ehrentitel. Er gilt weithin als einer der bedeutendsten Philosophen der chinesischen Geschichte. Zahlreiche Legenden ranken sich um seine Geburt, seinen Werdegang, seine Lehre und seine philosophischen Ideen.
Einer populären Legende zufolge wurde Laozi gezeugt, als seine Mutter einen Stern in ihren Schoß fallen sah. Er verbrachte 80 Jahre im Mutterleib. Bei seiner Geburt war er bereits ein erwachsener Mann mit grauem Bart und langen Ohrläppchen – ein Symbol für Glück und ein langes Leben.
Er verwahrte einst die Archive des Kaiserhofs der Zhou-Dynastie (ca. 11. Jahrhundert – 256 v. Chr.). Später gab er dieses Amt auf und zog nach Westen, um seine Ideen und seine Philosophie zu verbreiten.
Eines Tages ritt er auf einem Ochsen und näherte sich dem Hangu-Pass, wo er von Yinxi, einem Wächter, der den Pass bewachte, angehalten wurde. Als treuer Anhänger der Philosophie Laozis erkannte der Offizier den großen Meister sofort. Um Laozi jedoch um Unterricht in seiner Philosophie zu bitten, verlangte er von dem alten Mann eine offizielle Ausreisegenehmigung. Da Laozi kein solches Dokument besaß, willigte er ein, im Gegenzug für die Reise in den Westen einen 5.000 Wörter umfassenden Aufsatz über seine Philosophie zu verfassen. Dieser Aufsatz sollte sich als das berühmte Daodejing (auch „Tao Te Ching“ genannt), das „Buch der Tugend“, herausstellen.
Weltweit diskutieren Gelehrte bis heute, ob das Buch tatsächlich von Laozi verfasst oder von seinen Schülern und Jüngern zusammengestellt wurde.
Sie sind sich jedoch einig, dass das Buch Laozi’s Gedankengut widerspiegelt. Darin nutzte Laozi das Konzept des Dao (Tao), um alle Veränderungen im Universum zu erklären. Das Dao, auch als „Weg“ oder „Große Integrität“ übersetzt, gilt als die geheimnisvolle Quelle oder das Ideal allen Seins.
Laozi’s „Tao Te Ching“ ist ein Klassiker der chinesischen Philosophie. Um dieses Werk wirklich zu verstehen, empfiehlt sich ein Besuch in China und die Teilnahme an einem Vollzeit-Chinesischkurs. I found Keats to be very good, teachers are excellent and really take the students seriously. Kunming is the best place to learn Mandarin in China. The environment is awesome, no pollution. The air quality is great, good weather. The people here are very friendly. I come to take classes every day. I feel comfortable studying Chinese at Keats. I learned so many things, although I only studied at Keats for 2 months. I am really satisfied with my teacher. For us foreigners, Keats is the best Chinese school in China. Therefore, I would highly recommend Keats to all of you.
I think the Chinese learning environment here is great. The teaching methods are also very interactive and fun. What I particularly enjoy here is the fact that my teacher does not stick to the textbook. We spend a lot of time discussing general topics, such as Chinese culture, world news, typical expressions used by local people. We also discuss social and economic topics.

I really had a wonderful experience at the school. The teachers are very very friendly. In my class, we practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing. We play games and other fun activities. We have trips around town. The staff at Keats is phenomenal. My teacher is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my educational experience. She comes in with a smile every day.
In the one-to-one intensive Chinese course, you can choose the learning method you like. The small group Chinese class in China at Keats follows the HSK textbook. Teachers often collect feedback from the students, teachers listen to our requirements and opinions. I felt that my oral level is better than before .
Last year I started studying Chinese at University. The reason that I came here is that currently, I’m preparing for the HSK 5 test. Also, I heard that this is one of the best schools to study Mandarin in China. After I came here I realized that Kunming is a pretty cool city to live in and with regards to the teachers’ teaching methods, I think they’re very professional. And I think the language environment is good so now I’m ready to take the HSK 5.
I really enjoy this place because we have private Mandarin lessons. I took the 6-hour program, 4 hours in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. Even though it is quite a lot, the teaching is complimentary. This is very helpful because I could review what I did before and learn new things. My 2 teachers are fantastic. We live in the school, so it is convenient. It is interesting to me to meet people from all over the world.
